How to Buy Zilliqa – 4 Easy Steps

1. Choose a crypto exchange

Finding a crypto exchange isn’t that hard. There are plenty of big players out there that have been around for quite some time.

This is where our comparison tables can help. The important factors to look for are fees, security, and if they have Zilliqa of course.

2. Sign up with the cryptocurrency exchange

Signing up with any of the major exchanges is generally very easy. The initial sign up should be very fast, and even the verification processes are very well set up these days.

3. Fund your account

Next, you would need to fund your account with either fiat money (USD, AUD, GBP, CAD, etc) or another cryptocurrency like BTC or ETH. This process should again be straightforward and easily done using one of the bigger trading platforms.

4. Buy Zilliqa

Now that you have what you need to buy Zilliqa, head over to the market or buy section of the cryptocurrency trading platform and buy some ZIL.

If the crypto exchange doesn’t have any Zilliqa on offer, for most cryptocurrencies you can buy Ethereum instead, transfer it to a decentralized exchange like Uniswap (check if Uniswap has Zilliqa first), and trade your Ethereum for Zilliqa.

Considering buying Zilliqa? ZIL Rundown

Zilliqa, a public blockchain is designed to provide high throughput and the ability to process thousands of transactions per second. It uses sharding to address the problem of blockchain speed and scalability. It hosts many decentralized apps. As of October 2020, the platform also allows stake and yield farm.

In June 2017, development work began on Zilliqa. The testnet was launched in March 2018. In June 2019, the platform launched their mainnet. This was just over a year later.

Zilliqa's native utility token, ZIL (Zilliqa native utility token), is used to execute smart contracts and process transactions on the network.

Zilliqa claims it is the first public blockchain that relies entirely on a sharded system. It can achieve high throughput and high rates of transactions per second which, according to Zilliqa, solves the problem of scaling. Each shard processes transactions independently, so as the network grows, and the number shards increase, the number transactions per second will also increase. Also, transactions are added immediately to the Zilliqa Blockchain after they have been processed. This means that there is no need for additional confirmation.

Zilliqa aims to be the leading blockchain for large-scale enterprise use. This includes the entertainment, financial services, and payments sectors. The team stated in its 2018 position paper that the platform "aims at rivaling traditional centralized payments methods such as VISA or MasterCard."

Significant ZIL reserves are held by both Anquan Capital as well as Zilliqa Research (the company that developed Zilliqa).

The Zilliqa network has over million transactions per month as of 2021. It has been growing rapidly, from producing an average of over 900 blocks per day when its main network launched to currently producing more than 2500 blocks per day.
