Decentraland (MANA), a virtual reality platform powered with the Ethereum blockchain, allows users to create, experience and monetize content.

Users can purchase plots land in this virtual world that they can then navigate, develop upon, and monetize.

After a $24 Million Initial Coin Offering (ICO), Decentraland was created in 2017. In 2019, Decentraland launched its closed beta and was made available to the public in February 2020. Users have since created a wide variety of interactive experiences on their parcels, including sprawling 3D scenes, interactive games, and a variety other interactive experiences.

Decentraland uses MANA and LAND tokens. MANA token is an ERC-20 token and must be burned in order to obtain non-fungible ERC-721 ERC-721 tokens. MANA tokens are also available to purchase avatars, wearables, and other items on the Decentraland Marketplace.

Decentraland is for content creators, companies, and individuals who are searching for new artistic mediums, business opportunities, or sources of entertainment.

The Decentraland gameworld, also known as the "Metaverse", is broken down into 90,601 parcels of LAND. Each parcel is represented by an ERC-721 token that is non-fungible. Each LAND measures 16m x 16m (256 sq. meters) and is located at a specific coordinate in the Metaverse.

Although LAND holders can develop their plot as they wish, the Metaverse is divided into many districts. Each district has its own theme and size. These districts were created through crowdsales of MANA tokens. Parcels of LAND in these districts are not tradeable.
