2. Sign up with the cryptocurrency exchange

3. Fund your account

Next, you would need to fund your account with either fiat money (USD, AUD, GBP, CAD, etc) or another cryptocurrency like BTC or ETH. This process should again be straightforward and easily done using one of the bigger exchanges.

4. Buy Arweave

Now that you have what you need to buy Arweave, head over to the market or buy section of the crypto exchange and buy some AR.

If the crypto exchange doesn’t have any Arweave on offer, for most cryptocurrencies you can buy Ethereum instead, transfer it to a decentralized exchange like Uniswap (check if Uniswap has Arweave first), and trade your Ethereum for Arweave.

Considering buying Arweave? AR Rundown

Arweave, a decentralized storage platform that aims to provide a platform for indefinite data storage, is called. The network hosts the "permaweb", a permanent, decentralized web that is populated by a variety of community-driven apps and platforms.

Arweave uses native cryptocurrency to pay "miners", who indefinitely store network information.

The project was announced first as Archain, August 2017. Later rebranding Arweave in Feb 2018. Finally officially launching June 2018.

According to the yellow paper, Arweave aims to provide the "collective capability to store and share data between individuals and across time to future generations." Arweave's blockweave is the foundation of its flagship permaweb. This is a variant of blockchain technology where each block is linked to both the previous and random block. Arweave claims this encourages miners to store greater data as they can access random blocks from the past to add new ones or receive rewards.

Arweave's goal is to create a sustainable ecosystem around its network. It launched profit sharing tokens in June 2020. These allow developers to earn dividends from network transaction fees generated by their applications. It also hosts incubators that support the development of permaweb-based apps. It also supports startups via its "Boost" program which provides storage and access to industry investors and the Arweave team.

Arweave revealed in March 2020 that it had received $8.3million from Union Square Ventures, Coinbase Ventures, and Andreessen Horowitz. This follows an earlier investment made by Andreessen Horowitz, Union Square Ventures and Multicoin Capital in November 2019.
